I recently had my comcast cable box upgraded to a wireless router/modem. I have terrible signal so I would like to install an Apple Time Capsule. How do I install it?

I Have comcast cable in my home. It comes into my basement. Recently comcast upgraded our boxes to a wireless router/modem unit. We now have a poor wireless network. I decided to run an ethernet cable up into my kitchen so I can place a time capsule there. Is it as easy as just plugging the ethernet cable into the back of the time capsule or do I have reconfigure everything?

You might be better off running the wifi modem in bridge mode so that you can use a decent wifi router.

Plug in the Ethernet cord, turn the Time Capsule on, then go Applications/Utilities/Airport Utility and you can configure the wireless there.

Where is the Comcast router located? If it's in the basement, relocate it to a location closer to where you're going to use your computers. It can be connected to any one of your cable outlets.

Problem is the cable that comes into my basement goes into a home network box that houses the phone lines and the cable feeds. Cant move the comcast box upstairs.

May be you can't, but Comcast can put it in any room that has a cable and phone connection.
